Goutam Das, who was earlier suspended after he shared a photograph of himself on social media brandishing a firearm, has now been deputed the Office of the Chief Minister at Nabanna until further orders.
An order stated that the Governor is pleased to transfer Goutam Das, Inspector, presently posted at South Division, Kolkata Police and to place his service at the Office of Chief Minister of West Bengal at Nabanna on deputation basis until further orders.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, is hereby requested to release Goutam Das, Inspector to enable him to join the said deputation posting,” read the order.
It added, “The Governor is further pleased to decide that the seniority position of the said police person shall however be maintained in the original gradation list (of the rank) of his parent police force for the purpose of promotion, career advancement scheme etc.”
Earlier, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police informed that Das was replaced by Chameli Mukhopadhyay, who was posted in Ultadanga police station.
The action against Das, who was serving as the officer-in-charge of Kalighat police station, was taken after a post of his on Facebook began circulating widely online. In the post, Das was seen posing with a firearm and had written the caption “ready for new assignment.”
